How to Export SRT Subtitles from CapCut (Desktop & Mobile)

CapCut has become one of the most widely used video editors for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels thanks to its accurate Auto-Captions feature. However, once you generate captions, exporting them as plain text or an .SRT file is not always intuitive.

Method 1: Exporting SRT on CapCut Desktop (Windows & Mac)

  1. Import your video into CapCut Desktop and drag it onto the timeline.
  2. Go to the Text tab in the top menu and select Auto captions. Select your language and click Generate.
  3. Once the captions appear on the timeline, click the blue Export button in the top-right corner.
  4. In the Export modal, uncheck "Video exporting" and check "Captions exporting".
  5. Set the format to SRT and click Export. Your subtitle file will be saved to your computer.

Method 2: Exporting Captions on CapCut Mobile (iOS & Android)

The CapCut mobile app does not natively provide an "Export SRT" button without a cloud subscription on certain versions. However, you can easily extract the transcript:

  1. Open your project and tap Text > Auto Captions to generate dialogue.
  2. Tap Batch Edit on the captions track to open the full dialogue list.
  3. Select and copy the sentences, then paste them directly into our web tool on your phone to remove line numbers and sync markers automatically.
